Achiever na Madamot ... ako un!

My boss talked to me this morning. She started off with "You disappoint me. I thought you're gonna do good ..." But she & Rachel (her assistant) were smiling so something is definitely happening. I said, "Wait, something's wrong ... Rachel is smiling!". Then Rachel said "Wait, I'm not gonna show my face" ... she then faced the opposite direction. I was laughing while Joyce was saying stuff about how she expected more from me. Then, she smiled for like a good 10 seconds then said, "You did great this month. I'm really impressed with your numbers, especially the 4th week." Then Rachel said, "Yeah, you really kicked ass on the 4th week!"

Joyce then spoke of plans of doing a "program" thingy that would happen for 1 year. It's like a mentor program where I'd have to sit with the 2 new agents so I could impart knowledge. (hmm, I wonder if there's really any knowledge I can share. haha) Eh since ako'y mejo madamot at makasarili, ayoko ata magshare. Kung baga, whatever I do to sell ... akin na un. haha. Kasi kasi kasi, mejo competitive ako ... OK fine, very competitive ako. Ayokong nalalamangan ako. Gusto ako ang #1 sa kung ano mang ginagawa ko. So ... uhm ... mejo, yoko ata ung idea ng mentor. haha. I know na mali un coz we're suppose to be a team, pero pag gumaling sila ... baka malampasan ako. Takot ako. Selfish!! hahaha. Keber ko. Basta, I need datung to get through school (next year) and have a decent apartment. hehe.

Speaking of apartment ... I'm going crazy coz I'm looking for one. The ones I see na matino ay mostly above $1000. I definitely don't want something mahal. Pero kahit cheapeeps ako ... I want a decent place in a decent neighborhood. Yoko naman ung paglabas ka, mahoholdup ako or something. So, yeah ... wish me luck in lucking for a place!! Hahahaha. Thanks!!

Oh my gosh pala ... is February the month of engagements or something?? Ok ... exaj ako. But ... yesterday, Keith's cousin Maria got engaged to her BF. Then, I just got an email from Nenny ... our friends also just got engaged. I know Katch loves Nata pero wow ... they're engaged! Asteeg. I witnessed the ligawan phase ... ok, maybe not the ligawan per se coz tinago nila sa mata ng publiko un, but I'm one of the friends who knew about them. At shempre, naging tambayan ko din ang house ni Katch for some time at takbuhan pag may problema coz kailangan ko "maglabas ng sama ng loob". haha. So ... Maria & Jamie and Nata & Katsu (though I know di niyo to mababasa, I still wanna say it) ...

CONGRATULATIONS!!

I hope you guys would find eternal happiness with each other!

Ako kaya ... kelan magiging engaged?? Hmmm. Well for sure, not in the near future coz I still want to do a lot of things. haha. But who knows ... only God knows!

Johnny jokes

The math teacher saw that little Johnny wasn't paying attention in class. She called on him and said, "Johnny! What are 2 and 4 and 28 and 44?" Little Johnny quickly replied, "NBC, FOX, ESPN and the Cartoon Network!"

Little Johnny's kindergarten class was on a field trip to their local police station where they saw pictures tacked to a bulletin board of the 10 most wanted criminals. One of the youngsters pointed to a picture and asked if it really was the photo of a wanted person. "Yes," said the policeman. "The detectives want very badly to capture him." Little Johnny asked, "Why didn't you keep him when you took his picture?"

Little Johnny attended a horse auction with his father. He watched as his father moved from horse to horse, running his hands up and down the horse's legs and rump, and chest After a few minutes, Johnny asked, "Dad, why are you doing that?" His father replied, "Because when I'm buying horses, I have to make sure that they are healthy and in good shape before I buy. Johnny, looking worried, said, "Dad, I think the UPS guy wants to buy Mom." --> this 1 is the 1 i like the most, hehe

Friday gimik in the city

After Keith picked me up from work, we ate dinner at home. Then at around 9 pm, we left the house to pick up Jo Ella sa Bronx. After which, we picked up Kevin, his cousin Anthony and another friend Mike.

We went to this club/bar/lounge in NYC (di ko sure kung ano talaga sha) ... it was around ChinaTown Area, it was called M1-5. When we got there, it wasn't super packed. There were like 5 other Asian peeps but they left early. Jo Ella's friend came later that night din. I had 4 drinks ... first one was Kamikaze. The drink was super small. Kung baga sa food, di pa ko matitinga. Anyway, after finishing the Kamikaze, we tried the Margarita which came in a decent quantity plus it tasted good ... that's the reason I had 3 of it. Actually, I wasn't able to finish the last glass of Margarita which was bought by Jo Ella's friend.

Tas there were like this 2 girls who were throwing themselves at Kevin's friend. As in ... mejo slutty talaga. Kadiri. They were making out. The other girl pa was actually sitting on the guy (facing him ... so parang nakasakay sha sa lap nung guy) while making out. Kakaiba talaga.

Anyway ... after that, we transferred to this bar kind of place but me and Keith were so tired so we went home na. Though I was tired, I have to say, I had a great time.

Here are some pix ...

from 22 to 23

February 19, 2005 ... people who mattered to me shared that night with me. All my cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents and siblings of my grandma came. My cousin Mikko got drunk, and Justin threw up as soon as they got home. My college & high school friends were there. My friends that I worked with at that time also showed up. In fact, mommy Lauren was one of the early ones. My friend Al from my first job showed up even if it meant he'll be late for work.

I was so tired at the end of the party coz ... I made inumerable rounds of walking in and out of the house ... to the garage, to the gate, to the corner of the street. I was showing them where to park, showing them where the food is, trying to find a spot for them to sit at. I also went around to make sure everyone had a drink. Tito Albert helped me with this, coz the moment he saw someone's bottle is almost empty, he would give them a new one. Plus, I really made sure that everyone had at least 1 shot of tequilla ... I literally went from table to table giving shots to every single person, and of course, to make it fair to them ... I also took 1 shot per table before giving each table their shots.

Well, that's how I welcomed my year as a 22 yr old individual. At that time, I was aware that it'll be a while before I can spend another birthday with my family and friends so I enjoyed every single moment.

Looking back at Feb 19, 2005-Feb 18, 2006 ... a lot definitely has happened. I've learned a lot. I've met a lot of people and went to a lot of places.

Some of the stuff I've learned/realized and/or was re-emphasized:

  • My family is the most important people in my life. I will never trade then for anything.
  • I should not settle for someone who doesn't deserve me.
  • Distance is one of the greatest teachers of all time. It teaches you who you really value and who really values you.
  • The goodness in other people's hearts come out during the time you least expect it. In fact, it comes from the people you least expect it from.
  • Freedom is a precious thing, but along with it, comes a very very great responsibility and serious problems.
  • No matter how clean or pure the intentions are, some people will just interpret it incorrectly.
  • If someone is mad, just be quiet. Answering back or arguing will just make the situation worse.

Now that I'm 23 yrs old, I have a little more freedom (especially that my mom is not around to shout at me, hehe, joke lang Ma) but it's seriously hard. I mean, now, I have to worry about getting my own apartment. My deadline for myself to move out is April 2006. Along with that, I'll be paying my own bills, get my own internet, cable, and shempre food. I also have to save for school coz I'm planning on taking Nursing in 2007. I also have to save for a car, insurance, and retirement plan. Siguro I should start thinking about a memorial plan na din. haha. Joke.

February 18, 2006 ng gabi (which is February 19 ng umaga sa Pinas) ... I called home and talked to people there. It was great hearing their voices. I really miss them. Lalu na nung tima na un. I was so homesick. My little cousin made sumbong her older siblings coz inaaway sha. I also bombarded my brothers with questions coz ala na kong inaasar dito. I miss them. hehe. I also talked to my grandpa and mejo we joked around. I told him na malamang miss na niya ko coz ala na sha sinisigawan na umuwi ng maaga or tatawagan kung nasan na coz late na. He said shempre daw and he said na he's pretty sure namimiss ko na daw na may sumisigaw sa akin at nangungulit na umuwi ng maaga. Haaay, nakakamiss sila ni Mommy coz the two of them would often stay up until I get home or hear something from me that I'll be home late or di uuwi or something. Haaaaay. Naiiyak ako. ¤=(

February 19, 2006 ... I spent it with 4 great individuals; Keith, Marc, Tita Nimia & Tito Rod. They've been so nice to me ever since I met them. They're like my second family here. On that day, we went to church in the morning. Then for lunch, we went to the city to this restaurant called Dragonfly. I had Sinigang na Salmon ... namiss ko tuloy luto ng lola ko. My lola's cooking is great! Anyway, after a great meal, we headed back home. Pero Keith and I went out again and did some window shopping. hehe. It was great. Keith gave me this super nice wallet, a Gift Card and the complete set of one of the DVDs that I wanted ... Meteor Garden. Jologs na kung jologs pero I really like that show. Tas Tita Nimia gave me 2 sets of top and this cute bag. Then I also got a letter from Mama, Brian, JC, Tita Les, Ara, Pipob, Jude, & Tata. Sobrang natouch ako coz they sent me that. As in, I cried talaga.

Haay, I feel so blessed coz I have a great family and awesome friends. Even if I'm far away, I still felt their presence somehow. Thanks for those who greeted me ... Mama, Brian, JC, Daddy, Keith, Tita Lulu, Tito Albert, Gabby, Tricia, Nicole, Tita Henie, Ate Kaye, Katle, Jude, Tita Les, Ara, Pipob, Tata, Elaine, Kacey, Tito Bibit, Tita Ruby, Jaline, Phong, Joanna, AJ B, Mabby, Irish, Ivan, Joe, Tiffany, Lainey E, Tita Jeannie, Tita Nimia, Tito Rod, Marc, Cla, Kitin, Alex, Ana Marie, Cathy B, Mon, Ria C, Kate R, Katz, Cherwin, Carl C, Francis, Zein, Homer, Gem, AJ G, Penny, Nap, Berlin, Lauren, Maie, Ria M, Zhai, Marion R, Keysa, Heidi S, KY, Laarni, Dana, Gie, Jade M, Rozy, Vince M, 233, Vinz R, Arby, Wil U, Michelle M, Ellen M, Ash, Rachel, Michelle T, Charlie, Marsha, Marion N, Jo Ella, Greg A.

Shiucks ...

I haven't gone to the gym for a mejo long time. I brought all my gym stuff, but I feel crappy. Parang yoko mag-gym. Hmm ... ano kaya gagawin ko? tsk tsk tsk.

Life is all about choices

John is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, "If I were any better, I would be twins!"

He was a natural motivator.

If an employee was having a bad day, John was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up and asked him, "I don't get it!

You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?"

He replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or ... you can choose to be in a bad mood. I choose to be in a good mood."

Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or ... I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it.

Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or... I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.

"Yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested.

"Yes, it is," he said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live your life."

I reflected on what he said. Soon hereafter, I left the Tower Industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.

Several years later, I heard that he was involved in a serious accident, falling some 60 feet from a communications tower.

After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, he was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back.

I saw him about six months after the accident.

When I asked him how he was, he replied, "If I were any better, I'd be twins Wanna see my scars?"

I declined to see his wounds, but I did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place.

"The first thing that went through my mind was the well-being of my soon-to-be born daughter," he replied. "Then, as I lay on the ground, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or...I could choose to die. I chose to live."

"Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked.

He continued, "..the paramedics were great.

They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read 'he's a dead man'. I knew I needed to take action."

"What did you do?" I asked.

"Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me," said John. "She asked if I was allergic to anything. 'Yes, I replied.' The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, 'Gravity'."

Over their laughter, I told them, "I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead."

He lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude... I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully.

Attitude, after all, is everything.

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34.

After all today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

"I Want to Spend my Lifetime Loving You"
(Tina Arena & Marc Anthony)
Moon so bright, night so fine
Keep your heart here with mine
Life's a dream we are dreaming

Race the moon, catch the wind
Ride the night to the end
Sieze the day, stand up for the light

I want to spend my lifetime loving you
If that is all in life I ever do

Heroes rise, heroes fall
Rise again, win it all
In your heart, can't you feel the glory?

Through our joy, through our pain
We can move worlds again
Take my hand, dance with me
(Dance with me)

I want to spend my lifetime loving you
If that is all in life I ever do
I will want nothing else to see me through
If I can spend my lifetime loving you

Though we know we will never come again
Where there is love, life begins
Over and over again

Save the night, save the day
Save the love, come what may
Love is worth everything we pay

I want to spend my lifetime loving you
If that is all in life I ever do
I want to spend my lifetime loving you
If that is all in life I ever do
I will want nothing else to see me through
If I can spend my lifetime loving you
